Current consultation

We will ensure our members are given the opportunity to help shape and influence the future of the profession.

Ongoing consultations with our members and people who use services are vital. We will listen to your concerns and hopes and accurately reflect these views when communicating with government, policy makers and the media.

Consultation on changes to the Social Work Education Support Grant (SWEG)

The first phase of the consultation on the Education Support Grant has now closed. Thank you for your participation, which has been very full and helpful. Early in 2012, we will be launching a second consultation where we will make specific recommendations in relation to the management and administration of the grant. We hope that you will contribute again with equal insight and honesty at that time.

Consultation on the threshold level of qualification for entry to the register as a social worker in England

Every time we open a new part of the HPC Register, we need to consult on amending our standards of education and training to set the threshold level of qualification for that group. The existing professional qualifying training in social work in England is a bachelor degree with honours or above. We are proposing to amend the standards of education and training to set the level for social workers in England as a bachelor degree with honours.

You can find copies of both consultation documents On the consultation page of the hpc website. You can request hard copies by calling 0207 840 9815.
