Media Spokespeople

Media Spokespeople

It is vital to the success of The College that it is developed and led by social workers, and we want to involve our Members immediately.

A very important aspect of our work focuses on promoting positive coverage of social work in the media and appointing Members who express an interest to act as spokespeople for The College. Any media work our Members do will qualify for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certification. Your contribution will enable The College to become the independent voice for social work in public and media debates, as well as promoting the public understanding of social work as a public service and a profession.

Become a media spokesperson on behalf of The College of Social Work and your profession

We have already recruited a large number of social workers from across the profession to act as media spokespeople. Many of our Members acting as media spokespeople have already contributed to local and national news stories, helping to promote the public understanding of social work as a public service and a profession. Separately, we are also working with employers to ensure that social workers are able to speak out on matters of general importance to their profession.

If you would like to become a media spokesperson, you need to be a member of The College, please visit our current opportunities page and complete an application form. Full training and support will be provided.

If you have any questions about becoming a media spokesperson please contact us.

Do you have a positive case study of social work with people who use services?

Social workers make a real, positive difference to lives, of individuals, families and communities. We are eager to find examples of social workers making a difference to people’s lives, where the social worker (and service user where appropriate) have an interesting story to tell and are happy to tell it in the local media. We would only make further, sensitive enquiries after full discussion with you and with your permission. The media and the public should be given the opportunity to hear about these positive stories. We will always work with the media to make sure the story is handled in the right way.

Join today as a member and work with us to speak up for the profession.
