Consultation responses

College acts to protect statutory duties - April 2011

The College of Social Work has told the Department for Communities and Local Government that the statutory duties related to social work should be retained.

The College has responded to a DCLG review of the statutory duties of local authorities, which hopes to remove ‘unnecessary burdens or restrictions’. Our Prospective Members expressed strong opposition to any significant reduction in the statutory duties undertaken by social workers, arguing that they are essential for protecting the most vulnerable children and adults.
